The established networks of Farmers and their Markets is a local community network that benefits those that utilise it and has far reaching benefits for the community as a whole, the region and indeed the planet.
People value being able to buy organic, sustainable food from healthy and quality soil. 95% of what we eat comes from the soil as it is grown for human consumption or grown to feed the stock. In many cases more conventional farming erodes the quality of the soil making it more difficult to get good yields and chemical fertilisers and pesticides are utilised to improve the yield. Smaller, local farms are more likely to follow practices such as regenerative agriculture that focuses on healthy soil.
Consumers obtain quality nourishment from farmers who care for the land – today and future generations
Farmers are recognised and encouraged for the management of not only the produce but the care of the land
Support and encouragement of these practices will result in better soil management sequestering carbon from the atmosphere and returning it to the land assisting the planet to a better balance helping us to address Climate change
